Dancing is really hard, you guys. Especially when there are weights involved. And a bosu ball. And a yoga mat. And a very uncoordinated ME.
Regardless, I danced my ass off at Diva Den Studio in southwest. I am actually having trouble feeling that part of my body right now.
When I arrived at the Diva Den I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who offered to give me a tour of the studio. As we walked around I couldn’t help but giggle at the decor which, true to its name, is nothing short of bold. There are stripper shoes that adorn the wall alongside lots of pink and glitter.
The fusion dance class I took was done barefoot and switched back and forth between personal exercise on a yoga mat to group dance drills that take over the entire studio. Think squats combined with plies and free weights. Oh, and dance music blaring, of course.
Guys, I entered that class a terrible dancer. And, I left that class a terrible dancer. BUT, I tried it and didn’t take myself too seriously. As a result, I got to take one of the best classes I’ve been to yet! Watch out world, I see more dance classes in my future. Seriously watch out. I flail a lot.
Diva Den Studio offers a week of free classes that are described as “fun, flirty fitness” and have a range of fusion dance classes, aerial yoga and pole dancing (!!!) to choose from. Reviews on those coming soon!
